CARDIFF UNIVERSITY 3G TRAINING PITCH
This contract was won by competitive tender. The works involved removal of an existing sand based grass pitch, drainage installation, clean stone layer, 50mm porous tarmac and a 25mm insitu rubber shockpad. The fencing system, installed by our own fencing team, is 3.0-5.0m high and comprises a lower purpose made mesh rebound panel. The pitch benefited from a new floodlight system using 15m raise and lower columns. A one on one Basketball Court was installed adjacent the new pitch.
The 65mm pile 3G surface was installed by our own in house installation team using a hot melt glue system, this system provides a greater guarantee against seam failure. Infilling was carried out using our specialist plant. The fact that all of our synthetic surfaces are installed by our own team meant we were able to work efficiently within the small windows offered by the inclement weather during early September. The pitch was line marked for Rugby, Football and Five Aside. Supply and installation of self weighted goals completed the project. The surface has been installed to meet IRB (International Rugby Board) Approval.
