Pontllanfraith was the fourth pitch to be redeveloped as part of our framework agreement with Caerphilly CBC.
We worked closely with the Council and their partner, The Welsh Football Trust to create a new football facility to meet FAW Tier 2 requirements.
The existing Hockey footprint had to be increased to accommodate a fullsize football pitch plus run-offs and allow for creating a 2m wide spectator path all round.
The existing surface was carefully removed to ensure the underlying dynamic base remained intact. Fencing was removed and set aside. 4no. floodlight columns had to be taken down and repositioned.
The new 3G surface is a 40mm pile laid onto a prefabricated shockpad, all pitch works carried out by our in-house team.
As with the vast majority of our projects the only element subcontracted out was the floodlight works.
The pitch was officially opened with an U18 International between Wales and Australia. http://t.co/0Wde52aQ
