We were asked by Cowlin Construction (main contractor for the redevelopment of Llandarcy) to carry out a feasibility study for the replacement of an existing natural grass pitch with a 3G pitch designed to meet IRB Reg22 and FIFA TwoStar requirements. Following this we were employed to complete all of the design works and submit the scheme for Planning Approval. This was successfully carried out during June-August 2010.

The pitch has been designed and built using a ‘Dynamic Stone’ base (to help meet budget requirements). A prefabricated shockpad was installed and a 65mm pile surface laid. In addition the pitch has a new drainage system and floodlight bases and ducting for future installation. We have been employed by the college to carry out the annual maintenance of the pitch which involves monthly mechanical brushing.

The pitch is used by the Ospreys RFC and Swansea City FC for training.

ALL elements of the work were carried out by our own staff.
