South Wales Sports Grounds were chosen by Swansea City F.C to construct their new state of art academy training centre in Landore, Swansea which is situated next to the Liberty Stadium.

Works included constucting 2No. fullsize Fibresand pitches, 1No. Fibresand training area and 1No. Artificial 3G goalkeeper training area.

Works to construct the fibresand zones included excavting existing topsoil and remove from site, carry out regrading works, insert new drainage system, import clean stone raft, import rootzone layers, import and mix fibresand material. The training area was fertilized and seeded, however due to the high demand of the 2No. fullsize pitches they were turfed using fibre turf imported.

Works for the Artificial 3G surface included topsoil strip, grading works, inserting new drainage system, import stone raft, lay tarmac and shockpad layers, lay 3G surface, import and spread sand and rubber infill material.

Works were started in Winter 2012 and completed in Spring 2014. Although conditions were testing during the winter months works were completed on schedule ready for not just the academy teams to use but also the first team.
