Since 1990 we have been installing sand-filled and sand dressed surfaces throughout the region. A quick tallying of numbers shows we have completed over 50 full-size surfaces during this time ranging from sand-filled surfaces on a dynamic base to high specification sand dressed surfaces laid onto insitu shockpads and engineered bases. We have learnt a considerable amount about artificial turf its benefits and its weaknesses. The need for good sound drainage and base construction are paramount for any surface. The skills and experience we have gained from the construction of Natural Grass have been transferred into our synthetic surfaces.
We are one of the only sports-field surface contractors to not rely on subcontract carpet installers. We have our own skilled operatives who have been installing carpets for over 15 years. We continually strive to improve the level of installations and invest in the latest technology particularly in the gluing element of installation. On any synthetic surface the joint between carpets is regarded as the weak point. We have worked with more traditionally accepted cold glue systems which require 24 hours plus to be ready for infilling. In order to avoid this costly downtime between fitting and gluing the surface and infilling it we now use a Hot Melt Glue System which heats the glue prior to it being used. The reaction between the glue and the carpet backing is therefore much quicker making seams strong enough to infill in 1-2 hours.
Infilling of carpets is carried out using our own purpose made brushing units combined with a light weight sand spreader.
